Just Around The Corner!

We are quickly approaching Rylan's FIRST BIRTHDAY! It is so hard to believe that our sweet son is almost one. It seems like yesterday that we were counting his new born fingers and toes. We are party planning and I am really enjoying it. We are trying not go overboard, since he will most likely not remember it. However, Mommy certainly will remember this, and I am having difficulty not getting caught up in all of the fun planning details. I didn't think that throwing a birthday party would be so fun. We are having it here in San Antonio at a resort. We are celebrating Rylan's birthday and Mother's Day together. We are having a small party with just our close family. I am so excited for all of our family to come, they are all so special to Tyson and I, and also a big part of Rylan's life.

I wanted to share Rylan's invitation that my sweet friend Allison made for us. She is so talented and they turned out exactly like we wanted them to. Thank you Allison for doing such a great job, and for being such great friends to our family. We love you and miss all three of you.

If you can't tell we will be doing a Mickey Mouse Party! Rylan loves the Hot Dog Dance, from the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse show, so we decided to go with it.

Easter Weekend- Finally!

Well I am finally getting around to uploading our Easter pictures. We had a great weekend as well as Easter Sunday. We started out by heading to lake LBJ on Good Friday to go see our GOOD friends Savannah and Len. On the way there we stopped and took pictures in the bluebonnets. A photo opportunity Mommy couldn't pass up. When we got to the lake we got to see lots of the Black Family we haven't seen in a while. Sarah, Shonnah, Seth, Lynsie, Dustin, and their daughters Brenley & Brooke were there. It was so fun catching up with all of them. On Saturday the boys went golfing and we ladies and Rylan went out on the boat. Our boy was in a little life jacket and he actually kept a hat on. Rylan loved splashing the water and making motor boat sounds. On Sunday morning we woke up early and went home, got ready and went to church. Rylan looked precious in his Easter outfit. He begins to look more and more like a little boy. When we got home from church the Easter Bunny had come by our house. Rylan dug right in and began playing with his Easter goodies. Later that day Mommy, Daddy, and Rylan all took much needed naps. What a blessed Easter weekend we had!

The bluebonnets are beautiful this year. We have been told that this is one of the best years to come and see them. We even have neighbors who have them in their yards. The fill the sides of the road,

Cousin Purdy

We have a new niece, the first for Tyson and I, and Rylan's first cousin. On April 7th Aaron and Samantha welcomed Sophia Belle Purdy into this world. She is so tiny and precious. She was 6lbs. 7 oz. 18.5 inches and beautiful. Unfortunately we couldn't be there but have gotten to see and hear all about this little angel. Her and Momma are doing great. Sophia we are so glad that you are here and Rylan is so glad to have a cousin to play with. We love you!

Rylan's First Hair Cut

While we were in Oklahoma Rylan got his first hair cut. We originally wanted to go to a kiddy hair sallon, so he could sit in a little airplane. However, we thought that it would be even cooler to have a family member do it. So who better than my cousin Kallie is a hair stylist.

It was definately time to cut it, Mommy couldn't do anything with it. Tyson said it was starting to look like a comb over, much like Donald Trump. With that comment, I was ready to "get er done." Rylan did so great, he didn't cry at all. He squirmed a little but never got upset. When Kallie was done she spiked into a fohawk and gave our little man a certificate. After he was all done he looked more grown up than ever. My baby is growing so fast.

Rylan and his crazy hair sticking straight up on his head. He is looking at cousin Kallie, saying "Help me lady, have you seen my hair?"
The first snip, and Mommy actually didn't cry.
My big boy!
This face is priceless.
All done! Cousin Kallie did a great job!
And back in Great Granny's arms.

Oklahoma

We recently went on a vacation. Tyson had a week off so instead of going to Searworld or Disneyland we chose to go visit family. There is so much family that we haven't seen in a while and who Rylan hasn't got to play with yet. So off we went on our Road Trip. The majority of the time it seemed as though we were in the car. And a lot of it we were, but Tyson and I had got a great chance to catch up. When you are forced to be in the car that is sometimes the only thing to do. We loved it because sometimes in the weekly grind we forget to sit down and just visit with one another.

We started out by heading to Aaron and Samantha's in Olney. We wanted to see them, and give them all of the goodies we got for Sophia. The boys went fishing, and us girls got to visit and talk babies. Aaron is like a kid himself and him and Rylan had a great time playing. Samantha actually babysat for 25 minutes while I ran to Dairy Queen to get us dinner. Slowest Dairy Queen in the world (but that's another story). It was great to visit with them and divide up the trip. For Rylan it worked out well, becuase we planned to be in the car during nap time.

Once we got to Oklahoma we went and camped out at Granny and Papa's. Just the smell of my Granny's house brings back so many memories. It was so nice to see them and Rylan interact. Granny and Rylan became best friends. Granny even ate whatever Rylan fed her. Unfortunately they won't be able to come down for his first birthday. So Granny made him cupcakes and got a #1 candle to go on them. He wasn't for sure what to think about the cake, he didn't devour as expected. Rylan had many firsts while we were on vacation this week.
1. eating cake for the first time
2. getting his first hair cut (that will be a post all it's own)
3. ordering off the kids menu for the first time. We now know Rylan likes hot dog's and chicken nuggets.

We got to see all of my Momma's side of the family. Which was nice because most of them haven't seen him since he was 4 months old. We also got very lucky all week, Rylan was the best baby ever. I even had to do a double take a few times because he wasn't acting like himself. The Lord really blessed us with a good traverler this trip. We had a great week and look forward to Daddy's next vacation.

Having orange juice for the first time, and guess who introduced him to something new? Yep, Uncle Aaron, who else?

Rylan loved to pick on Papa's mustache and glasses.

Watching TV with Papa like a big boy, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse was on, who can resist?

We went to visit Aunt Debbie and Uncle Tony, their land is beautiful so we had to take some pictures. If only Tyson's head wasn't cut off.
