Happy Easter

We had a great Easter this year. Having Rylan get excited about bunnies, eggs, and little chickens made it all that much more exciting to us. However, through all of this excitement much discussion transpired between Tyson and I. Where did the Easter Bunny and Egg Hunts all come into play when Jesus rose from the grave?  We realized that although Rylan is only two we still want to begin teaching him the true meaning of why we celebrate Easter. We want him to know that God sacrificed his son, that Jesus suffered so that we may be forgiven, and that Jesus rose from the dead and is still alive. Don't get me wrong, we will still do the egg hunts and other celebrations, but we just want our children to know the real meaning of Easter.
This year Granny came and spent the weekend with us. It was fabulous to have my Momma here to help and to give Rylan so much love. We went to church Sunday morning after we saw what the Easter Bunny brought us (see I told you, we will still do the fun stuff). The service was so emotional for me this year. I cried twice, once during silent prayer, and the second during a video and song that displayed Jesus suffering for our sins. Overall it was a powerful service, and I really felt God's presence that morning. After church we went and ate lunch and then came home for Rylan to nap. Momma ended up leaving after all of us adults napped. Rylan however, didn't get up until Tyson woke him up at 4:30. It was a good thing we didn't make Momma wait to hunt eggs. After he got up, we let him dye eggs and then decorate them with Mickey Mouse stickers. He loved dropping the eggs in the colored water, he would put 3 or 4 in each bowl. We definitely assisted in this adventure. At the end our eggs were beautiful and it was time to hide them. I hid the eggs while Rylan watched. We figured it would be easier for him if he saw kind of where they were. So after about three he had the hang of it. He took off remembering where I had placed every egg. He loved hunting them, but he really loved throwing them into the basket. At the end of the hunt most of the eggs were cracked.
I hope you all had a very wonderful Easter. If you have ideas on how to educate our children on Easter all ideas are welcomed.
Rylan excited to see all that the Easter Bunny had left him. With Granny there the Easter Bunny was extra generous this year.

Rylan dying his eggs, we figured just a diaper would do for this staining activity.
After the eggs dried we decorated them with Mickey Mouse stickers.
Ry was so proud of all of his eggs.

Baby Girl Evy!

My cousin Bayli is due to have her first child at the beginning of July. She is having a baby girl and they have decided to name her Evelyn. But they going to call her Evy for short, which I love! Anytime someone has a baby on the way, I quickly ask about the nursery. I love making things for the babies rooms. So, I asked Bayli to send me photos of the bedding for the nursery. She is going with orange, yellow, white, and a really unique shade of pink. The bedding also has flowers and birds thrown into the mix.  I love the nursery colors and theme, it is unique and different for sweet Evy to rest her head in. As soon as I saw the bedding my creative juices started flowing. It was time to make something as sweet and precious as Ms. Evy will be to us all. So below are the pictures of what I came up with. I made a frame and a bow holder/ headband holder for her room. I did not incorporate the pink color, because it was so unique I had a difficult time matching it up just right. I hope that you enjoy!
This is the final look for the frame.
I got the bird stencil at Hobby Lobby, and anytime I can use it I do. I love it, I wish I had more birds in my house.
This was my second time to make bows. They seem to get easier and pretty with each new project!
This is the bow holder. If I ever have a girl, we will definitely need one of these, or three.
I wanted the bow holder and frame to look like a set. So I used the same paper, ribbon, flowers, and bird stencil to make them as alike as possible. I admittedly have a touch of OCD (I diagnosed myself), so if things can match, that's the way they must be.
I found this quote and loved it, "She will fill our lives with sunshine.....And our hearts with love."
A picture of the set together. Bayli I hope this will fit in perfectly in Baby Girl Evy's room. We can't wait to meet her!

Sophia Turns ONE!

Last weekend we went to Olney to celebrate Sophia's 1st Birthday. I wanted to post some pictures of the birthday girl and her party. It was a great weekend where the Purdy clan kinda of had a family reunion. Everybody was there, it was great. Sophia got lots of goodies and loved her cake. She loved her cake more than any other one year old I have ever seen, really funny. Samantha did a great job decorating and had excellent food. I had to share these pictures.
Sophia we can't believe you are already one!

Yard Work

I just had to post this picture. Rylan loves anything and everything that his Daddy does. I find that Rylan not only looks like his Daddy, but he also plans to be as much like him as possible. When I saw this I ran to get my camera. Tyson was mowing the backyard and Rylan ran and got his lawnmower to help, so cute!

Sophia Came to Visit

While in Muleshoe, Sophia and her Momma Samantha came to visit. We got to indulge some sweet Sophia for 2 whole days. It is so nice to see the different dynamics of a little boy and a little girl. Theses two cousins couldn't be more different. But they also play very well together and are oh so sweet to see conversing. Thank you Samantha for coming to see us!

Keeping Busy

While in Muleshoe each day was filled with something. There wasn't a day that went by that we didn't have something going on. There were a few days though that we just got to sit and enjoy some Nana & Papaw time, as well as what their house has to offer. Rylan was the center of attention and he didn't let any time go to waste. He kept us all VERY BUSY! But with our busy boy comes great joy. You can see how happy Rylan was at all he got to do while in Muleshoe. These pictures will show you him swimming, (which he tried to do everyday after) and him and Nana make cookies.
We took swim classes last spring, and apparently Rylan hadn't forgotten anything.
This brings me joy, my boys laughing together.
These two look so much alike, even the hair.

Rylan eating the cookie dough and looking at Nana to see if it is okay. I can't blame him I still love to eat cookie dough.

Dog Gone Crazy

While at Muleshoe Rylan was happy to have another furry friend. Nana & Papaw got a new puppy. He is a 3 month old German Shepard named Charlie. In the beginning it was a bit of a struggle for Duncan and Charlie, Duncan had to let his presence as the Alpha Male be known. We found that funny because Charlie had a good 15 lbs. on Duncan already.  Winston could have cared less, he always does his own thing.  Charlie is just a puppy so the boys had to remember how to play again.  But they all three adjusted, and by the end of the first week they were all three cuddling together to sleep.  Rylan found that having three dogs was even more fun than just having two. Thank you Nana & Papaw for letting our whole family come. And now that we are gone hopefully ya'll and Charlie are getting some rest!
